966 trees planted in India
Every quarter we donate to One Tree Planted in order to help them plant trees around the world.
We decided to donate to India for the 3rd quarter of 2022, as One Tree Planted informed us that this is the country where donations are needed the most.
Recognized as one of the 17 “megadiverse” countries, around 8% of the world's flora and fauna is found in India. Additionally, India's forests support the livelihoods of almost 275 million people. With sustainable agroforestry, countless communities can enjoy the environmental benefit of trees alongside the economic value of smallholder farming to make a lasting and meaningful impact.
Those who shopped in our webshop during the the third quarter of 2022 (July 1st - September 30th) have contributed to plant 966 trees in India. Thank you for your support :)
One Tree Planted will distribute their tree planting activities in India across the following areas (depending on where donations are needed the most):
- Plant trees to restore watersheds, mountainsides, and coastlines across India
- Plant trees with small-holder farmers to create sustainable Agroforestry. Communities and landowners will be taught sustainable forestry practices such as proper planting techniques, sustainable harvesting, the importance of recycling and waste management, and land and plant protection. This will create jobs and opportunities for those most impacted by the projects.
- Protect coastlines from erosion by planting native mangroves. This tree species is vital for the tropical and subtropical ecosystems. And they store up to 10 times more carbon than land based ecosystems!
